FAQ's

The remote repair service has solved each of the issues that have come up. The response time has been extremely quick and the problems are solved without wasting any time transporting the computer.

  • 1. HOW DOES ONLINE COMPUTER TECH SUPPORT WORK?

    • Our service uses "screen sharing" technology. This software lets our technical support agents view your computer screen from our location. Once the connection is made the technician can work directly on your machine and fix the problem right in front of you while you watch.
    • You do not need to take the computer to a repair shop or schedule someone to come into your home. You do not need to wait for instructions to be emailed, or try to follow frustrating directions over the phone.
    • Users on high speed internet connections can talk to the computer technician live, while the problem is being fixed.
    • Its easy, fast, and a great learning experience for the user.
  • 2. IS 'SCREEN SHARING' SAFE?

Yes, our screen sharing software is 128 bit encrypted and completely safe. The user must initiate the session and has the ability to override the technical support agent and close the live session at any time. Once we have your permission to enter your computer system, PC Remote Repair technicians only perform requested tasks, explaining the procedure as you follow along. After the work is completed and the session is closed, the user must initiate re-connection, the technician cannot restore the connection.

The screen sharing software we use does not stay on your machine and must be reinstalled (takes about 30 seconds) before each screen sharing session. Each time the computer tech requires access to your system, you must grant permission. The technicians cannot access your computer at any other time.

Screen sharing is proven technology that has been used for years by large corporations to connect computers to tech support in their IT department.

  • 3. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

PC Remote Repair has a variety of online computer technical support packages to suit user needs. There are Time Packages and Service Packages. Time plans cost as little as $0.99 per minute. This rate is lower than most computer repair shops, and far cheaper than having a tech come to your home or office. Service packages are a set series of operations performed by technical support agents, regardless of how long the process takes.

We offer users a FREE ESTIMATE service which allows them to speak with one of our live computer techs to determine the nature of the problem and approximate time it will take to fix. There is no minimum charge per call and time can be used to fix a variety of problems.

  • 4. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO FIX MY PROBLEM?

Most tech support issues can be solved in 45 minutes to an hour. For this reason we recommend that new users purchase at least one hour of technical support time. Unused time can be used at a later date for any problem.

Due to contributing factors (operating system, internet connection speed, and nature of problem) the time needed to fix a computer problem can vary significantly. If you would like to speak to a technical support agent and have them estimate repair time please call us at 1.866.947.7277

  • 5. ARE YOUR COMPUTER TECHS QUALIFIED?

Our technician's qualifications include MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers) and A+ certification. In addition, PC Remote Repair ensures all representatives possess a wealth of field experience.

All of our technical support agents are "second level" techs. They do not read from scripts. All of them have an excellent understanding of how a computer system works and are fully capable of solving complex issues like virus and spyware removal.

Our technical support services are delivered by live computer technicians, one on one, direct to the user. We do not rely on chat, email, automated decision trees or other impersonal repair methods.

  • 6. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN'T FIX?

Yes, we only fix PC computers with Windows based operating systems. We do not offer technical support for MAC, Unix and Linux based computers.

While our computer techs can diagnose hardware problems, we cannot replace physical computer parts.
